Now to make sure that my divorce from my Small Business Server is not a messy one …
I’ll remove my reliance on server services in the following order, leaving the ones most difficult extractions for last:
- Antivirus
- Reference library
- Archive files
- Working files
- DHCP / DNS / Active directory (these all work in concert and need to be changed simultaneously)
Once the SBS isn’t doing anything anymore, I can simply turn off the backup server. Putting the Kaseya server in the cloud is much more complicated, so I’m not even thinking about that part right now. I know I don’t need the SBS running in order to make the Kaseya server work.
Next step: Moving e-mail to the cloud.
